This piece was inspired by an artist I follow on Instagram named Clare Youngs. She had made a print of an owl in flight in the night sky with the moon in the background. I loved the mood and sense of movement. the idea sparked a new direction in my forest themed work. What if I could give the forest a main character, moving through? What kind of mood could I create around this moment with colors and shapes and time of night? My eye has been drawn to grays and browns, especially with select colors popping out on top of that framework. Somehow this image feels poetic to me, part of me wants to be like this solitary owl, a creature of the mysterious forest effortlessly wandering across the landscape.
